At our office, we understand the importance of having a healthy smile. Not only is it good for your overall physical health, but it also helps you to have self-confidence. If you’ve lost many or all of your teeth, you may be able to get your smile back to the way it used to be with implant-supported dentures.
Dentures are usually used when a patient has lost almost of their teeth. Regular dentures sit on top of the gums and require adhesives in order for them to stay correctly positioned in the mouth. Affordable, quality implant-supported dentures rely on implants within the bone to attach to the dentures. These implant dentures may be removable or fixed and can be used for both the upper and lower sets of teeth.
Your journey to having implant-supported dentures will begin with a consultation with one of our dentists. At this visit, you will receive a full examination. Afterwards, the dentist will discuss what kinds of dentures will work best for you.
You will then schedule an appointment for the dentist to surgically position the implants within the jawbone. Most patients require four to six implants. Less complex cases may only need to use two implants.
It will take just a few months for the bone to fuse with the implants. After this period of time is over, you will return to the office and our dentist will make an incision to expose the implants that lie beneath the gums. After a healing period of two weeks, you will come in once again for your final dentures to be inserted.
You can expect this entire process to take between five and seven months. Ask your dentist about a newer one-step procedure that you may be able to have in order to get your dentures faster.
While many of our patients are concerned about the cost of denture implants, they often find that affordable, quality implant-supported dentures are well within their financial reach. The overall cost of implant-supported dentures varies depending on whether or not your dentist chooses bar-retained or ball-retained implants. The exact procedure used by your dentist is also a factor in determining the final cost of your dentures.
With implant-supported dentures, you won’t need to worry about dealing with messy adhesives. You will also enjoy having more stable dentures that are able to function more like natural teeth.
The short answer is, “Yes!” Implant-supported dentures are incredibly easy to care for and maintain. In fact, fixed dentures are brushed just like regular teeth. Removable dentures are taken out every night and cleaned in a special solution.
Like most of our patients, you will find that implant-supported dentures make life easier for you. The sturdy foundation they offer not only helps to prevent bone loss, but it also makes it easier for you to eat. You’ll also find that speaking and interacting with people is a lot easier for you.
