We Are Open – Safety is Our Top Priority!
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
After you eat or drink, bacteria remain on your teeth. If they’re not removed by brushing or flossing, they can travel to the periodontal pockets between your teeth and begin to cause periodontal disease. If you notice swelling or inflammation, tenderness or infection, then you may have the beginning of gum disease. In severe cases, gum disease can cause you to lose your teeth.
Until now, surgery was the solution for periodontal disease and it involved removing some of the gum tissue. This left wounds that were subject to additional infection and required additional care. Perio Protect® is a relatively new procedure that addresses existing periodontal disease and helps prevent additional gum disease. If you’re interested in the Perio procedure, call our Chicopee office and we’ll schedule an appointment with one of our Perio Protect dentists.
What Are Perio Protect Treatments?
Perio Protect treatments are comprehensive, fully customizable procedures that remove the biofilm that causes periodontal disease. The treatments are non-invasive and you can use the system at home, so you can adapt it to your busy schedule.
Perio treatments use custom-fitted trays, similar to those used for teeth whitening, and a 1.7 percent hydrogen peroxide solution to destroy the bacteria that are causing your periodontal disease. Treatments are usually between 10 and 15 minutes in duration, and you should notice improvement right after each treatment. Severe periodontal disease may necessitate using Perio treatments in conjunction with traditional treatments, but your dentist will advise you of that during your consultation.
Since there’s no cure for gum disease, the best defense is to prevent periodontal disease from occurring. Research indicates that the Perio Protect treatments are effective at removing up to 90 percent of the pathogens that cause gum disease, and Perio Protect reviews seem to prove this conclusion.
Will My Perio Protect Treatments Take a Long Time?
In order to receive your Perio trays, you’ll need an appointment with one of our Perio Protect dentists. Your dentist will examine your mouth, make a recommendation for a treatment regimen, and then make impressions of your teeth and gums. We’ll order your trays from the impressions that were taken, and when they arrive, you’ll return to receive the trays and the medication.
Each treatment session should last between 10 and 15 minutes, and you should notice an immediate improvement. Perio Protect reviews indicate that patients’ entire mouths felt cleaner, their breath was fresher, and their teeth were whiter. You may need to wear the trays daily, but your dentist will provide you with a schedule for wearing the trays.
What Benefits Will the Perio Protect Treatment Provide?
The most important benefit you’ll receive from your Perio treatments is an abatement of your periodontal disease and the prevention of additional build-up. Other Perio Protect reviews indicate whiter teeth, fresher breath, and improved overall health. If you want to learn more about receiving treatment with Perio Protect in Chicopee, call our office and we’ll schedule an appointment with a Perio Protect dentist. Your Perio Protect results will be unique to you, but you should achieve similar improvements.
Do I Need a Dentist Who’s Specially Trained in Perio Protect Treatments?
All dentists who want to provide the Perio Protect procedure to their patients must be specially trained in the program. Since Perio Protect is a relatively new procedure, not all dentists are aware of it. Fortunately, all the dentists in our Chicopee office are specially trained as Perio Protect dentists, so call us today to schedule an appointment.
Is the Perio Protect Procedure Expensive?
Your Perio Protect cost will depend on the stage of periodontal disease you have, whether additional types of procedures will be necessary, and your insurance coverage. Since the Perio procedure is customized to the patient, costs will vary widely because there are several components to the program. The trays and medication are separate costs, the duration of the program, and your unique circumstances will all be factors in your final Perio Protect cost.
During your initial consultation, your dentist will provide you with a detailed list of fees that you’ll incur, so you’ll know the final amount of your Perio Protect cost. If you need the program, but the cost is an issue, ask about our affordable payment options when you call our Chicopee office.
Will My Insurance Cover a Perio Protect Treatment?
Although many insurance plans will cover a Perio treatment, the best answer can be gotten from your insurance provider. Ask them if you have coverage for insurance code D5994. If that doesn’t help, call our Chicopee office at (413) 241-6913 and we can help you.
Is the Perio Protect Procedure Available for Everyone?
If you have periodontal disease and want to avoid invasive surgery, then Perio Protect treatments could be right for you. If your case is severe, you might need additional types of treatments, but your dentist will advise you of this during your appointment. If you want to schedule an appointment for getting Perio Protect in Chicopee, then call our office and we can help you. We look forward to hearing from you, so call us today.
