Our office in Belchertown is glad to help you achieve the stunning smile you desire. Simply visit us for a treatment that can boost the brightness several shades in less than an hour, or take home an easy-to-use kit with revolutionary technology that can whiten your teeth safely in five to 10 days.
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
We all know how brushing and flossing daily guard against tooth decay. Unfortunately, even whitening toothpastes aren’t enough sometimes to protect against everything that can turn our teeth dull or yellow. You might already have noticed a yellowing to your teeth as you’ve grown older. That’s because our teeth’s outer enamel thins as we age, allowing the soft and yellowish dentin beneath to become more noticeable.
But our teeth, especially the porous enamel, are vulnerable to staining and discoloration from other factors, such as:
- Tobacco products, which contain nicotine and tar
- Some medications and medical treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, antibiotics, high blood pressure medicine, antihistamines, and antipsychotics
- Foods and drinks with intense color pigments (tea, coffee, cola, red wine)
- Tooth decay or injury
Whitening your teeth not only can brighten your current smile but prepare you for a fully restored one, if you’re planning to get dentures, veneers, a crown, or a bridge. This dental work is stain-resistant, so it doesn’t respond to whitening treatments, but having your teeth whitened beforehand guarantees that it will blend in naturally with your new radiant smile.
Opalescence Boost: Whiten Your Teeth in a Day
Imagine getting your teeth whitened over your lunch hour. That’s the convenience of Opalescence Boost Teeth Whitening, a chemically activated treatment we provide in our Belchertown office. This method uses no harsh, uncomfortable lighting and adds nourishing ingredients — potassium nitrate and fluoride — to its
40 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. Studies show that these additional ingredients harden natural tooth enamel, minimize sensitivity, and help reduce cavities.
With Opalescence Boost, we’ll first assess your current tooth color. We’ll apply a thin resin barrier to your gum line and give you special mouth guards to protect your lips and tongue from the whitening gel. We’ll brush the gel on to your teeth, and you can relax for 20 minutes. Then we’ll remove the gel, check the color, and apply another layer of gel for another 20 minutes if needed to achieve your desired results. Either way, in less than an hour, you’ll leave our office with a brighter smile than when you entered.
GLO®: Whiten Teeth at Home or On the Go
For added convenience, our office in Belchertown also carries a home whitening kit, the innovative GLO teeth whitening system. GLO comes with premixed vials of professional-strength bleaching ingredients along with a patented mouthpiece that uses gentle light and heat to activate and accelerate the whitening process.
To use GLO, you’ll brush and floss your teeth, then treat your lips with the kit’s protective balm. Brush a pea-size amount of the 9 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening gel onto your upper and lower teeth, then bite into the mouthpiece and turn on its remote, which attaches to a lanyard so you can move freely.
Eight minutes later, simply rinse off the gel and reapply it for another eight minutes. GLO is designed to work with a total of four eight-minute treatments a day for five days, taking teeth an average of five shades whiter. It’s safe to use for up to 10 consecutive days to achieve the smile you want.
