New Patients Information

We appreciate that you have selected Baystate Dental PC., Advanced Care for Children and Adults. To help make your first visit and all subsequent visits as pleasant as possible we ask that you take a few minutes to read the following information and complete any required forms. Thank you.

What To Expect During Your First Visit

In order for our staff to provide the best care possible to each patient we require that new patients undergo a comprehensive examination at the time of their first visit.

Each and every procedure performed in our office is based upon a detailed dental and periodontal examination given during your first visit. During that initial visit you will receive the following:

  • a complete head and neck examination
  • a screening for oral cancer
  • a dental radiograph or x-ray (when indicated and as needed)
  • a complete periodontal examination evaluating the teeth and soft tissue that support them
  • intra and extraoral photographs of the teeth (when indicated and as needed.

Prior To Your First Visit
  1. Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to your appointment in order that our receptionist may complete your registration.
  2. Children under the age of eighteen years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on their first visit.
  3. If you have pertinent information from a previous dental office that is less than three years old, particular models/radiographs we would appreciate you contacting that office and bringing that information with you. It will make your comprehensive exam easier and more efficient.

If there are any specific conditions of concern in your past medical history, we would appreciate you contacting our office before your first appointment. Patient's with prosthetic heart valves, pace makers, shunts, abdominal meshes, a history of reheumatism, heart murmurs, or prosthetic hips or pins require pre-medication with antibiotics in accordance with The American Heart Association's guidelines. We will gladly call your pharmacy to order your prescriptions.

This examination allows us to identify specific problems and develop a treatment plan for you. Usually the results of this examination will be discussed with you at the end of the visit. However, if your treatment is complex and many options are available, within a week after your examination you will receive a letter detailing your treatment plan, along with recommendations and estimated fees.

We appreciate that you have selected one of our offices, and we hope that you are satisfied with that selection.
